Thane (Maharashtra), Aug 05 (ANI): The 150-year-old Kalwa Bridge, which stands over the Thane creek, has been shut by the Thane Municipal Corporation on Thursday following its dilapidated condition. This decision comes after the Mahad bridge collapse a day back. The bridge which links Thane and its suburbs has restricted access and will only be thrown open to vehicles after a structural audit is done. Officials said the structure had been weakening and had suffered damage after a barge rammed into it some years back. With this announcement, only bicycles and pedestrians are allowed to use the bridge.
