BCCI forms 3-member panel to draft safety norms after Bengaluru stampede

The BCCI Apex Council on Saturday formed a three-member committee headed by its secretary Devajit Saikia to formulate guidelines aimed at preventing incidents like the recent Bengaluru stampede during the victory celebrations of Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Apart from Saikia, the Board's vice-president Rajeev Shukla and treasurer Prabhtej Singh Bhatia are the other members of the committee which will formulate the guidelines within 15 days. In light of the incident that occurred during the victory celebrations in Bengaluru, the Apex Council has decided to constitute a committee to formulate comprehensive guidelines aimed at preventing such occurrences in the future, the BCCI said in a media statement. BCCI eyes hosting rights for 2027 World Test Championship final in India

The BCCI is contemplating to host the World Test Championship (WTC) final of the 2025-2027 cycle in India, and a proposal in this regard will be formalised at a later date. England has hosted both the WTC title clashes till now in 2021 and 2023 at Hampshire and at the Oval respectively. The PTI has learned that discussions in this regard was held during the ICC's chief executives committee in Zimbabwe last month, where the BCCI was represented by IPL chairman Arun Dhumal. BCCI set to bar state units from direct tie-up with foreign cricket boards

The BCCI is set to bar state associations from directly engaging with foreign boards for organising training camps and competitions, making it mandatory for them to route all such proposals through the parent body. The decision will be taken at the board's Apex Council meeting on March 18. The BCCI was forced to take the decision after a host of state units, including the Delhi and Puducherry, held talks with foreign boards, mainly the associate nations, for hosting them on exposure trips. It could be confirmed that Delhi and Districts Cricket Association has received a proposal from the Nepal board. "State units can surely partner foreign boards for cricket related activities but those agreements have to be facilitated by the BCCI as it is the parent body. All proposals must go through BCCI," said a BCCI source. A new policy for state associations to collaborate with foreign boards will be discussed by the BCCI's Apex Council meeting on March 18. "Discussion on policy for state cricket associations collaborating with foreign boards for organising cricket," read item number five in the eight-point agenda, which is in possession with PTI. BCCI secy Shah reappointed as ACC chairman for third successive year

Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah was on Wednesday appointed as the president of the Asian Cricket Council for a third consecutive term. Shah's extension was proposed by the Sri Lanka Cricket president Shammi Silva for the second time and the nomination was unanimously backed by all the members of the ACC at its annual general meeting in Bali. Shah initially assumed the role in January 2021, succeeding Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hassan. Under Shah's leadership, the ACC successfully organised the Asia Cup in T20 format in 2022 and in ODI format in 2023. "I am grateful to the ACC Board for their continued trust. CCI approves BC Asia Investments' acquisition in IIFL Wealth Management

Competition Commission of India on Tuesday approved the acquisition of the stake in IIFL Wealth Management (IIFLWM) by BC Asia Investments X Ltd. The proposed combination involves the acquisition of up to 24.98 per cent shareholding of IIFLWM by BC Asia Investments X Limited, a notice issued by the anti-trust regulator said.
