IRRPL to finish AK-203 rifle delivery early, targets exports by 2030

Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited (IRRPL), a joint venture company which manufactures AK-203 assault rifles in Uttar Pradesh's Korwa, will complete the delivery of all 6.01 lakh rifles nearly 22 months ahead of schedule, a senior official said on Thursday. The company, mandated under a Rs 5,200 crore contract to supply 6,01,427 rifles to the armed forces by October 2032, plans to finish deliveries by December 2030, Maj Gen S K Sharma, CEO and Managing Director of IRRPL, told mediapersons during an interaction at the factory. "Around 48,000 rifles have been delivered so far. Another 7,000 will be handed over in the next 2-3 weeks and 15,000 additional by December this year," Sharma said. "From 2026, the factory will produce 12,000 rifles a month, enabling completion of the order much before the deadline," he added. DRDO showcases future-ready defence tech at Indo-Defence 2024 in Jakarta

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is participating in the Indo-Defence 2024 exhibition in Jakarta, Indonesia, from June 11 to 14, as part of the India Pavilion. India's defence exports surge to record Rs 23,622 crore in 2024-25: Rajnath

India's defence exports have surged to a record high of Rs 23,622 crore (approx. USD 2.76 billion) in 2024-25 registering a 12.04 per cent growth over the previous fiscal, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Tuesday. Singh also said that the country is poised to achieve the target of Rs 50,000 crore in defence exports by 2029. India's defence exports in 2023-24 were Rs 21,083 crore. "India's defence exports have surged to a record high of Rs 23,622 crore in the FY 2024-25," the defence minister said on 'X'. "An impressive growth of Rs 2,539 crore or 12.04% has been registered in the just-concluded FY over the defence exports figures of FY 2023-24, which were Rs 21,083 crore," he added. Singh also congratulated all the stakeholders on this "significant achievement". Govt clears Rs 22,000 crore for Su-30 fighter jets, 100 K-9 howitzers

In a major success for Make in India in defence sector, the Cabinet Committee on Security today cleared two major projects worth around Rs 20,000 crore for 12 Su-30 MKI fighter jets for the Indian Air Force and 100 K-9 Vajra Self-propelled howitzers for the Indian Army.The two projects were cleared on Thursday by the CCS and the contract for the Su-30-MKI jets has already been inked, defence sources informed ANI.The 12 SU-30MKI jets for the Indian Air Force would be licensed manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) at its Nashik facility and cost around Rs 13,000 crore.These will replace aircraft that have been lost over the last many years.The order for 100 K-9 self-propelled howitzers to be made by Larsen and Toubro at Hazira in Gujarat would be a repeat order as already 100 of them have been inducted into the Army.L & T has increased the indigenous content in the howitzers.The two projects for the public sector Hindustan Aeronautics Limiter and the L & T are ...
