Diesel autorickshaws are now banned in Noida and Ghaziabad after the Uttar Pradesh government ordered a phased ban on them across the UP cluster of the National Capital Region (NCR) in a move to curb vehicular emissions, officials said on Saturday. A comprehensive action plan is being rolled out to tackle rising air pollution in districts that are included in the NCR. Baghpat will also enforce a full ban after December 31, 2025. Road dust has been identified as a primary contributor to pollution in the region, with the action plan focusing on road redevelopment, intensified dust suppression and large-scale cleanliness drives, according to a state government release. Diesel autorickshaws will be completely banned with immediate effect in Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad districts. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday said air pollution in the city on Diwali night was less this year as compared to the previous year. Her assertion came a day after monitoring stations showed that Delhi's air pollution hit a four-year high on Diwali, with particulate matter 2.5 peaking at 675. The chief minister said she will meet a Punjab minister on Thursday to inform the state government about Delhi's concerns over crop residue burning, a major cause of pollution in the national capital during winters. "The pre- and post-Diwali gap (between average AQI) this year is less compared to the previous year, even though firecrackers were allowed this time," Gupta said at a press conference. She insisted that her government was taking all necessary steps with "greater alertness" to curb pollution. India's biggest realty firm DLF Ltd will invest Rs 23,500 crore to complete its residential projects that have already been launched across Delhi-NCR and Mumbai. According to an investor's presentation, the "total pending cost" to complete all launched projects is estimated at Rs 23,500 crore. To meet its pending construction spend, DLF mentioned that the company has a cash balance of Rs 10,429 crore, of which Rs 7,782 crore is parked in the escrow account of the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA). That apart, the company has receivables of Rs 37,220 crore from its customers against residential properties sold to them. In a recent conference call with market analysts, DLF Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) informed that the company invested around Rs 750 crore in construction during the first quarter of this year. The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday conducted searches at multiple premises in the national capital region and Uttarakhand as part of a money laundering probe linked to a global cyber fraud ring in which Indian and foreign nationals were duped of funds worth crores of rupees, official sources said. The raids are being conducted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and are covering at least 11 premises located in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram and Dehradun, the sources said. Fraudsters based in these cities were "cheating" Indian and foreign nationals by impersonating as police or investigating agency officers and they "extorted" money by threatening them with consequences of arrest, they said. The fraudsters also impersonated as Microsoft and Amazon technical support service agents to "cheat" the victims. The Centre's panel on Delhi-NCR's air quality on Friday rolled back stage 3 curbs under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) amid a dip in air pollution levels owing to continuous rains, according to an official order. Delhi's air pollution levels showed a declining trend and the 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) stood at 324 at 7 pm. ?According to forecasts from the India Meteorological Department and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, the air quality situation is predicted to improve further owing to favourable meteorological conditions. Realty firm Alphacorp will invest Rs 350 crore to develop a luxury housing project in Gurugram as part of its expansion plan amid strong consumer demand. Without divulging the name of the partner, Alphacorp said it has tied up with an entity that owns two land parcels of nearly 2.4 acre each, located in Sector 15, Part 2, Gurugram. "We will develop a total of 200 apartments on these two land parcels," said Santosh Agarwal, Executive Director and CFO of Alphacorp. On one parcel of 2.38 acre, the company has launched luxury high-rise project 'Alphacorp SKY1' comprising 100 units. The price is Rs 5 crore per unit. The project on the second plot will also be launched in the next 2-3 months. When asked about the project cost, Agarwal said the total investment is estimated at Rs 350 crore excluding land cost. Haryana Finance Minister Jai Prakash Dalal on Saturday sought special grant assistance from the Centre for the implementation of various projects in the national capital region (NCR). Dalal raised this issue during a meeting of finance ministers of all states that was chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Delhi. In the meeting, Dalal mentioned that the Haryana government has developed the KundliManesarPalwal (KMP) expressway around Delhi to reduce congestion in the NCR region. "Work is also underway on the major project of the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor, a 122-km long project from Palwal to Sonipat with a revised estimated cost of Rs 11,600 crore," according to an official release. The top leadership of the Congress is attending a meeting in the national capital on Thursday to finalise the party's candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
