Tata Motors set to complete Iveco transaction by Q2FY27: N Chandrasekaran

Commercial vehicle maker Tata Motors has secured the majority of regulatory approvals for the Iveco acquisition, and the transaction is expected to be completed by the second quarter of this fiscal, Chairman N Chandrasekaran said on Monday. Addressing shareholders at the company's second Annual General Meeting here, he said the deal is a significant strategic step in advancing Tata Motors' global ambition. In July 2025, Tata Motors announced the acquisition of Italian commercial vehicle maker Iveco Group, excluding its defence business, for euro 3.8 billion. "A transaction of this scale, spanning multiple geographies, requires a series of mandatory regulatory approvals," Chandrasekaran said at the AGM. Tata Motors has secured the majority of these approvals and is progressing well on the remaining few, he said, adding that "We look forward to completing the transaction by Q2 FY27." Chandrasekaran said the Iveco acquisition will enable the company to access advanced powertrain and

India 'bright spot' in global economy despite uncertainties: Chandrasekaran

India continues to be a "bright spot" in the global economy despite geopolitical uncertainties, and offers "strong growth" as well as a very large market, even as consumer preferences and spending patterns are undergoing constant change, Tata Consumer Products Chairman N Chandrasekaran said on Wednesday. Addressing shareholders of the Tata Group's FMCG arm Tata Consumer Products Ltd (TCPL) at its 63rd Annual General Meeting, Chandrasekaran said the world today is being reshaped by geopolitical shifts, supply chain disruptions and realignments, energy transition and rapid advancements in Artificial Intelligence. This year started on an optimistic note with key developments such as the landmark trade agreement with the European Union and finalisation of the framework for an interim bilateral trade pact between India and the United States. However, concerns over economic slowdown, weakening output and inflationary pressures resurfaced after the outbreak of the West Asia conflict late .

Air India a responsibility, not just a business opportunity: Chandrasekaran

Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran on Saturday said Air India, which is undergoing a transformation, is not just a business opportunity but a "responsibility" for the Tata Group. The aviation sector faces continous challenges, he said and added that the global supply chain issues make availability of parts, infrastructure and new fleet pretty unpredictable. "Every plan that you have is becoming difficult because of the situations that you face in this area," he said. Chandrasekaran also mentioned that the aviation is a very capital intensive business and also the margins are thin. At an event in the city to celebrate the 121st birth anniversary of J R D Tata, Chandrasekaran said, "I firmly believe for the Tata Group, Air India is just not a business opportunity. It's a responsibility". Tatas acquired loss-making Air India along with Air India Express in January 2022, and since then, the group has been working on an ambitious five-year transformation plan. However, the progress ha

Will be transparent in our communication on plane crash: Tata chairman

Tata Group will not retreat from its responsibilities, from doing what is right even though it is a "difficult" time, Chairman N Chandrasekaran said on Friday while emphasizing that the group, which owns Air India, will be transparent in its communication on the plane crash. In an internal communication to the employees, he also said that when Tata Sons took over Air India, ensuring the safety of its passengers was its first and foremost priority and "there was no compromising on it." The communication came a day after Air India's London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed soon after takeoff from the Ahmedabad airport, killing 241 of the 242 people onboard in one of the country's worst air disasters. "This is a very difficult moment. What occurred yesterday was inexplicable, and we are in shock and mourning. To lose a single person we know is a tragedy, but for so many deaths to occur at once is incomprehensible. "This is one of the darkest days in Tata Group's history. Words ar
