While RJD has rejected the possibility of Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav quitting over charges of corruption against him, the Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United) has asked RJD chief Lalu Prasad's son to put out his defence in the public domain.Kumar held a meeting of his party's Members of Parliament, legislators and office bearers in Patna to discuss the situation that has arisen after Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has charged Prasad, his family members, including his son Tejaswi, in a corruption case and has been raiding premises owned by the family in Patna, Delhi and Gurugram. While no timeline has been fixed, a senior JD (U) leader said in the days to come Tejaswi should either put out a convincing explanation about his involvement in the case or else quit the government. Tejaswi Yadav, the country's youngest deputy chief minister, wants young men and women to take a more active part in decision- and policy-making. On Sunday, Bihar's Deputy CM - aged 26 - said: "In the Assembly elections, 45 tickets were given (by the Grand Alliance of the Janata Dal (United), Rashtriya Janata Party and Congress) to men below 43 years and to 10 women. All of them won." He added that the state government would soon form a commission to promote youth (aged between 16 and 24), who comprise 16.8 per cent of Bihar's population. The young politician had another trick up his sleeve. He said during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Narendra Modi had managed to attract the youth, helping him achieve a landslide victory. "There is not much time before the 2019 elections. Young people played a pivotal role in the making of Narendra Modi, so we must highlight to them how the NDA government has failed," he said.
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav has welcomed novelist Chetan Bhagat and the shooting unit of Half Girlfriend. The film, produced by the novelist and Ekta Kapoor and directed by Mohit Suri, will be shot at a few locations in Patna. Bhagat had written to Yadav seeking cooperation of the local administration to shoot the film adapted from his 2014 novel of the same name about the love story of a Bihar boy. Yadav wrote to Bhagat telling him that he was delighted to welcome the crew and that the film would help promote tourism in the state. He later told journalists, "Earlier people made GangaaJal and Apaharan, which maligned the name of the state." Both the films were directed by Prakash Jha, also from Bihar, who unsuccessfully contested Lok Sabha elections from the state.
