Direct chats on Arattai are now protected with end-to-end encryption, the Zoho-backed messaging platform said on Tuesday. In a social media post, Arattai urged users to update to the latest version of the app. "The wait is finally over! Direct chats on Arattai are now protected with end-to-end encryption," it said. Earlier in the day, Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu had said Arattai is poised for a big update with end-to-end encryption scheduled to be rolled out on Tuesday night. Vembu said many more "cool features" on Arattai are in the works once "this big transition" is through. "Please update the Arattai app from the Play Store/App Store, and please encourage your contacts to do so. The end-to-end encryption will be enabled Tuesday night IST," Vembu said in a post on X on Tuesday. He explained that users will be able to exchange only end-to-end encrypted messages if both they and their contacts are using the latest version of Arattai. Homegrown technology company Zoho on Thursday announced its proprietary large language (LLM) model designed for enterprises using its suite of products, the latest move reflecting bold ambitions of Indian firms to build and innovate on their own AI stacks in the global tech race. Zoho said it is also rolling out automatic speech recognition models for speech-to-text conversion in English and Hindi. The Chennai-headquartered company plans to further expand the available languages, beginning with other Indian and European languages. Zoho top management said it has not seen these AI advances impact jobs and hirings. The company further said it grew 32 per cent in 2024 in India, its second largest market globally after the US. The growth was driven by industries such as ITeS, banking financial services and insurance or BFSI, manufacturing, retail, and education. At the Zoholics India -- its annual user conference held this year in Bengaluru -- the company announced proprietary large ..
Global technology company Zoho has unveiled Zia Hubs, designed to help organisations using Zoho WorkDrive to gain deeper business insights from various types of information, a top official said. Zia Hubs is part of the Zoho WorkDrive, and acts as a tool to extract intelligence from Unstructured Business Data. Zia Hubs is a foundational element of Zoho's long-term AI strategy, laying the groundwork for a future where intelligent agents can act contextually on content across the company's entire product suite. According to company CEO Mani Vembu, Zia Hubs bring a common model to company data, exposing unused information to powerful capabilities and services, including agentic AI, comprehensive analysis and accurate unified search. "According to IDC, 80 per cent of business data is unstructured. Most unstructured data is text-based, meaning pertinent information lives within email conversations, social media posts, word processor documents or audio and video transcripts," he said in a
Zoho's Sridhar Vembu has sounded an alarm about the future of India's software and IT services sector, arguing that the industry is facing a fundamental reckoningnot just a cyclical downturn or a challenge from artificial intelligence, but a structural shift that will reshape the next several decades. In a post on X, Vembu contended that inefficiencies in products and services have long plagued the global software industry. "My operating thesis: what we are seeing is not just a cyclical downturn and it is not just AI related. Even without the uncertainty induced by tariffs, there was trouble ahead. "The broader software industry has been quite inefficient, both in products and services. These inefficiencies have accumulated over decades of a prolonged asset bubble," Vembu, who stepped down as CEO in the IT firm in January to focus on R&D, wrote. He noted that India, as a major exporter of software and IT services, has adapted to and even relied on these inefficiencies, with ...
