Delhi Metro awards Rs 645 cr contract to BEML

BEML, the defence PSU and manufacturer of metro cars, has received orders worth Rs 645 crore from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for supplying 74 broad gauge coaches.
 
In this regard, DMRC signed a contract agreement with BEML for design, manufacture, supply testing and commissioning of the 74 broad guage metro cars for its RS-13 project (rolling stock), said BEML in a statement.
 
BEML, which forayed into manufacturing of metro cars in 2002, has already supplied more than 600 metro coaches to Delhi Metro and 150 coaches to Bangalore Metro for its phase I project. BEML is also the rolling stock supplier to the Jaipur Metro project and supplied 40 cars, the revenue operations of which have commenced recently.
