A mob attack at the office of Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma left five security personnel injured, reported NDTV. Sangma is unharmed. He is, however, still inside his office in Tura as hundreds have surrounded the compound. Garo Hills-based civil society groups have been on a hunger strike demanding for a winter capital in Tura. Trouble started this evening when hundreds of people gathered outside the Chief Minister's office and started throwing stones. Five security personnel were injured in the attack. They were brought inside Sangma's office.

The Hyderabad Police has unearthed a mega fraud ring involving Chinese handlers in which 15,000 Indians were duped of over ₹ 700 crore in less than a year. Police said the money was routed to China via Dubai and some of it was also sent to an account operated by the Lebanon-based terror group Hezbollah. "We are alerting Central agencies regarding this and the cyber crime unit of the Union home ministry has been given the details," Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand told NDTV. 

In the current Monsoon session, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the centre is ready to discuss the Manipur issue.

The Supreme Court on Monday extended by two weeks the interim bail of former Mumbai Police officer Pradeep Sharma, who was arrested in connection with the Antilia bomb scare case and the killing of businessman Mansukh Hiran, in view of his wife's surgery. A bench of Justices AS Bopanna and Bela M Trivedi, however, said since the interim bail is being extended time and again, this will be the last extension.

Amid tight security, the 22nd batch of 3,898 pilgrims left the base camp for the Amarnath Yatra here on Monday for the twin base camps of the cave shrine in the south Kashmir Himalayas, officials said. More than 3.25 lakh pilgrims have so far paid obeisance at the cave shrine located at a height of 3,888 metres since the commencement of the annual pilgrimage from the twin tracks of Pahalgam in Anantnag and Baltal in Ganderbal districts on July 1.
