Guwahati, May 5 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said the need of the hour was to maintain strict vigil and beef up security after 31 people were gunned down in three days by tribal militants who resent the presence of immigrants from neighboring Bangladesh. Gogoi said that more forces would be deployed and the area would be put under high surveillance. Police said that death toll after the Assam attacks now stood at 32 after they found another body in the state's Baksa district, where some of the attacks took place. While addressing a news conference in Guwahati, Maulana Mahmood Madani of the Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind, largest body of Sunni Muslim clerics, said both the Central and State governments were responsible for the negligence that led to deadly violence. Madani said the miscreants were roaming free and quick action was required to catch hold of such criminals.
