Maharashtra floods: Relief operations are underway, says CM Fadnavis

Mumbai, Aug 08 (ANI): Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday held a cabinet meeting in Mumbai. The purpose of the meeting was to review the flood-situation in the state. Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara and surrounding areas have received very heavy rains in the last few days leading to a flood-like situation in many cities, towns and villages. While addressing the medipersons on the situation, CM Fadnavis said, "We took NDRF teams' help to deal with flood situation. We also took help from Army, Navy and Air Force. I personally talked to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and he gave instructions to Secretary of Defence to provide us direct help from Defence Ministry. Relief operations are ongoing on a large scale. There are around 80 Territorial Army jawans, 22 NDRF teams and additional teams from Odisha and Gujarat at the site. The work is in progress to move people out on a very large scale. Relief operation is ongoing everywhere."
