Politicos react over Amit Shah calling Azamgarh a 'Base of terrorists'

New Delhi, May 5 (ANI): BJP leader Amit Shah's controversial statement on Azamgarh has once again invited political reactions. Shah while campaigning for BJP candidate Ramakant Yadav in Azamgarh had said that the city has become a 'Base of Terrorists'. Congress leader Rashid Alvi condemned the statement and said that Shah is bent upon insulting Azamgarh. NCP leader Tariq Anwar also condemned the statement and said that EC should take strict action against such leaders. Meanwhile, former SP leader Shahid Siddiqui stated that the people of Azamgarh will respond to Shah's statement through their votes. Rajya Sabha MP Mohd Adeeb also condemned the statement terming it shameful on Amit Shah's part to have said so. On the other hand, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy defended Shah saying that he did not say anything against Azamgarh.
