India's FTA strategy: The road ahead

The India-UK free trade agreement, which is expected to double bilateral trade to $115 billion by 2030, came into effect in July. India’s FTA with the European Union, reducing or eliminating tariffs on more than 90 per cent of products, was announced in January. The US and India entered a framework for an interim trade agreement in February and have been working for a bilateral trade agreement. In a significant shift, India has been pursuing trade deals with developed economies towards global integration, instead of striking deals with regional blocs.
