Who is Donald Trump
Donald Trump is an American businessman, media personality, and politician who serves as the 47th President of the United States. Born on 14 June 1946 in Queens, New York, he earned an economics degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He expanded his family's real estate business into a global brand with properties, hotels, and golf courses. Trump gained further fame as the host of The Apprentice.
In 2016, Trump ran as the Republican nominee, defeating Democrat Hillary Clinton despite losing the popular vote. His presidency was marked by a distinct populist approach, with policies focusing on tax cuts, deregulation, and immigration restrictions. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (2017) was a significant legislative achievement. His administration pursued a "America First" foreign policy, withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement and the Iran nuclear deal while negotiating with North Korea.
Domestically, his administration faced criticism for its handling of racial tensions and the Covid-19 pandemic. He was impeached twice — once for abuse of power and once for inciting the Capitol riot — but was acquitted both times by the Senate.
After losing the 2020 election to Joe Biden, Trump remained a dominant figure in Republican politics. His post-presidency has been marked by legal controversies, including investigations into business practices and handling classified documents.
In November 2022, Trump announced his bid for the 2024 presidential election, aiming to become only the second US president to serve non-consecutive terms after Grover Cleveland. He defeated Democrat Kamala Harris to win his second presidency, and was sworn in as the 47th US President on January 20, 2025.
