Audi is preparing an arsenal of cars for India.

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Audi India is on a roll. But having cast the die, they aren’t showing any signs of slowing down and after an explosive 2011, 2012 is also expected to bring in many surprises from the house of four rings.

By the time you read this, Audi will have launched a facelifted version of the TT sports coupé for our market at a price that is bound to make your jaws drop. Powered by a 2.0 TFSI, turbocharged four-cylinder with 211 bhp, the new TT not only looks sharper and sleeker, but it's priced quite some way down on the last car in what is possibly going to be the cheapest sports coupé on sale in the country.

But the good news just doesn't end there. Come June, Audi will also have its cheapest car on sale, the Q3, that is designed to make life for the BMW X1 a little difficult. To be powered by a 2.0-litre TDI motor with 170 bhp and quattro all-wheel drive, the Q3 is likely to be priced in the region of Rs 25 to 26 lakh. Its biggest launch by far in 2012, the Q3 is expected to become Audi’s best-selling car in the country as it aims to hit sales of 8,000 units by the end of the calendar year.

More cars too will head for Indian shores, namely a facelifted and thoroughly updated version of the A4 sedan in the coming months. The A4 borrows design elements from the new A6 and A8 and also comes packed with Start-Stop tech as standard. Audi will continue to offer the A4 with a range of engines, including a 3.0-litre TFSI motor with 333 bhp and badged the S4.

Speaking of sporty models, Audi isn't resting on the R8 and RS5 to carry the mantle. That will be shared with models like the S4, a more powerful version of the A6 called the S6 with 420 bhp, and the S8 (based on the A8) with 520 bhp. Both models are expected to hit our shores before the end of the year with prices ranging from Rs 65-70 lakh for the S6 and over Rs 1.3 crore for the S8.

And if that's not all, the Q7 will also come with a 6.0-litre V12 TDI motor with a massive 500 bhp and over 102 kgm of peak torque, making it the most powerful production diesel-powered SUV, not just in India, but the world. The fact that it can accelerate from 0-100 kph in just 5.5 seconds makes it a proper supercar hunter of sorts. Price? Expect it to be an eye-watering Rs 1 crore or thereabouts.
