Whether or not you advocate ties particularly in our stifling tropical climes, is not the point. Regardless of whether you consider it an anachronism or a style statement, the tie is a must in any wardrobe.

Here’s what you can choose from this season: Be it traditional formal looks or power dressing that’s in vogue, the Gods And Kings collection from Louis Philippe is just right. It uses fabric that continues to find favour for ties, irrespective of changing styles — silk.

This collection is woven from pure silk that is sourced all the way from Como, Italy and is said be handstitched, using imported lining. A wide range of ties are available, priced at Rs 4,000 each. Includes prints, solids and jacquards. The twist is in some of the new designs and dual ties. All ties come with matching cufflinks and a handkerchief.

Ethnic tones

Studio One offers a range that predominantly uses Indian motifs and an earthen colour theme. There is also a range of slim ties. They are perfect with semi-formals and lounge wear, and matching accessories such as belts, handkerchiefs, cufflinks, shoes and scarfs are available.

The ties are priced between Rs 1,250 and Rs 3,500, and available at Lifestyle. The Study collection by Janak offers bold printed ties for both men and women with prices starting from Rs 1,250. The Janak range is available at the Taj Khazana stores and select outlets.

Swarovski and Satya Paul

Satya Paul can add some sheen to your look with ties that are embedded with Swarovski crystals. The silk ties are available in a variety of colours from subtle blacks to bright reds. Each tie is cut to an exact 45 degree and is said to never twist or crease, and regain its shape when the knot is unwound.

The ties are priced from Rs 9,995 and available only on special order at Satya Paul stores. There is also a standard Box Tie set, which includes a tie, cufflink and a handkerchief, at Rs 3,995.

Animal motifs

If you want a theme truly inspired by nature, choose the endangered species collection by Satya Paul. It features motifs inspired by the Bengal tiger, Asian elephant, Indian rhino, the Gangetic river dolphin, black necked crane, otter, red panda, snow leopard, olive ridley turtle and the whale shark.
