Tycoon Vijay Mallya, known for his flamboyance, has bought the "best house in Cape Town" for Rs 38.4 crore located at the posh Nettleton Road, says a Sunday Times, Johannesburg, report.
Indian liquor baron and Formula One team owner Vijay Mallya has splashed out Rs 38.4 crore for a Cape Town mansion in which Hollywood star Nicolas Cage once slept on embroidered pillows," the newspaper said.
The four-storey mansion overlooks the Clifton beach and is shielded from the wind and boasts of a sauna, walk-in safe, gym, and garage space for four cars.
The local estate agents described the mansion, which has hosted movie stars, singers and royalty, as "the best house in Cape Town".
Prince Carl Philip of Sweden stayed in the mansion during the 2010 Fifa World Cup, singer George Michael lived there last year and Nicolas Cage along with his third wife Alice Kim six years ago while shooting for movie Lord of War.
"The main bedroom on the top level has an amazing penthouse feel," the paper quoted Stefan Antoni, the area's in-vogue architect and the designer of the mansion.
The mansion has a glass elevator and porcelain tiles imported from Italy.
