AC major Blue Star to set up 2 units at Rs 215 crore investment

Air-conditioning and commercial refrigeration major Blue Star is planning to set up two units at an investment of Rs 215 crore in Jammu and Andhra Pradesh, a top executive said Monday.

"We have plans to set up two units with a total investment of Rs 215 crore at Jammu and Sri City in Andhra Pradesh. With the help of these two units, the company is looking forward to manufacture air conditioners, deep freezers and water coolers," Blue Star Joint Managing Director B Thiagarajan told reporters here.

The company had sold 3.1 lakh room ACs last fiscal, he said.

As per estimates, the annual demand for room ACs is 40 lakh pieces in the country and this demand is expected to rise by 20 per cent in the current fiscal, Thiagarajan said.

He further said the company targets 12%  room AC sales in the current fiscal.
