With effect from June 20, 2013, AGL's CNG will be now available in Ahmedabad and Vadodara for Rs 65.80 per kg as against Rs 63.80 per kg. According to an official statement, the price rise is due to the depreciation in Indian Rupee against US Dollar and the upward revision in imported LNG Price.
"In absence of allocation of APM Gas by Govt. of India to Ahmedabad, Adani Gas has to depend on expensive R-LNG supplies, to fulfill the growing demand by the CNG users," the company said in the statement.
Adani Gas Limited currently supplies gas to over 183,000 domestic, 700 industrial and 1,300 commercial customers in Ahmedabad. It also supplies CNG to 200,000 vehicles through 55 CNG stations in Ahmedabad and Vadodara.
Just a day before, GSPC Gas Company hiked CNG prices from Rs 60.15 per kg to Rs 62.15 per kg, citing same reasons.
It needs to be mentioned here that the previous revision in the CNG prices was made on April 19, 2013. GSPC Gas Company is also contemplating an increase in the piped natural gas (PNG), for its different categories of consumers. PNG costs in the range of Rs 21.50 to Rs 40 per standard cubic meter (scm) in Gujarat.
