- Tamil Nadu Government today released its Aerospace and Defence Policy 2019, envisaging to create an end-to-end ecosystem for the sector and to attract investments to the tune of $5 billion in five years.
- The policy, released by Union Minister of Defence Nirmala Sitharaman at the inaugural ceremony of the State's Global Investors Meet 2019, eyes a 30 per cent share for the state in India's defence sector and creation of high-end employment opportunities for 100,000 persons in 10 years.
- The policy covers various aspects including design, engineering and manufacturing of aircraft for civil and defence sector. It is estimated to attract an investment of about $5 billion in five years and a total of $10 billion in 10 years in aerospace and defence. The objective is to attract global OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers and Indian majors as anchor units to the State.
