Ambuja Realty, the city based realty major is planning to start construction on its hospital project in Kolkata by the end of this year.
Harshvardhan Neotia, managing director of the company, said, “We have already acquired the land and we are going to invest Rs 250 crore and put up the hospital. Even our 250 bedded hospital in Siliguri is under construction and it would start by the end of the year. Three- four floors are up and another two-three floors are left. We have expended Rs 100 crore for the same.” Though he did not specify where the land has been acquired in the city.
In December 2006, Ambuja Realty had signed a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Israel based Elbit Medical Imagine (EMI) group to undertake hospital projects with an investment of Rs 1000 crore. Though the joint venture was called off due to inability to acquire large tract of land, Ambuja group is now treading the path alone. Last year it had decided to expend Rs 1000 crore for its hospitals and hospitality projects. It is also looking at putting up hotels in three cities which includes Raipur in Chattisgarh, Patna and another city.
Neotia says, “We have planned out the hotel projects but we have not yet decided the exact plans only after they crystalise we will decide the brand.” It has also decided to put up 5 new clubs under its in-house Conclave brand. Of the five, three are already up and running and other two will be built in Raichak and Siliguri each. 25 years ago it had built its first conclave project. one off club but since last year we have been thinking of putting up more clubs under the conclave brand.
