Amway India Enterprises Pvt. Ltd., the country's largest direct selling FMCG company, has recorded a 27 per cent growth in the first eight months in Gujarat compared to the corresponding period last year (2009), while Pan India, Amway has witnessed a growth of 25 per cent for January-September 2009-2010.
"Amway operates from eight locations in Gujarat - Ahmedabad, Baroda, Surat, Bharuch, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar and Bhuj. Gujarat has posted a turnover of Rs 51 crore for the first eight months of the financial year compared to Rs40 crore for the corresponding period last year. This represents a growth of 27 per cent for Amway in Gujarat. To support growth, we have made investments in infrastructure expansion by setting up brand experience centres in Ahmedabad and Rajkot earlier this year," said Achinta Banerjie, Vice President, Amway India (West). The company is now looking at enhancing growth in Surat and other cities as well. "Surat is one of the key cities for us in Gujarat. Over the last three years, Surat has doubled its contribution to the total turnover," Banerjie added. Taxes paid by Amway to the state exchequer exceeded Rs 8.21 crore for fiscal 2009-10. Amway India is country’s leading direct selling FMCG Company, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the US $ 8.4 billion Amway Corporation, Michigan, USA, one of the largest Direct Selling Companies in the world. The company has invested more than Rs 151 crore in India, and has 130 offices and 55 city warehouses across the country, covering over 4,000 cities and towns through its home delivery network.
