A new committee has been appointed to manage the Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (Faba), which organises the annual biotechnology business forum, BioAsia. At the 11th AGM held recently in Hyderabad, Prof WL Sumathipala, chairman of National Science Foundation, Sri Lanka, was appointed as President of FABA. Dr K Vijay Kumar, additional professor, department of Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics, Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences, is secretary general. Prof KV Raghavan, scientist Emeritus, Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, will be new working president while Prof P Reddanna, director, National Institute of Animal Biotechnology, will be vice president. Shakthi Nagappan, who is executive secretary in the committee, will continue to lead BioAsia as its CEO.
