Berco Undercarriages India has opened its new facility on an eight-acre site in the Cherlapally Industrial Area here with a built-up space of 8,000 sqm.
The new unit is part of the company’s Rs 45-crore investment made in India in the last two years, and would manufacture components and systems for excavatoRsand dozers, a release said.
According to S Sakthi Kumar, general manager, the new plant will begin with three assembly lines and has the space for another five assembly lines. A machining line would be installed in the near future, he said.
Berco India managing director Federico Maurilli said the Indian market potential was huge. “The total order portfolio in the country in 2010-11 will reach about Rs 90 crore, and this will grow sharply over the next three years,” he said. Berco, headquartered in Italy is part of the global steel major ThyssenKrupp.
