Bharti Airtel, which started mobile services business in 1995, today said that it has crossed the 200 million customers mark in India.

"In this journey, while our first 14 years of operations saw a 100 million customers joining the Bharti Airtel family, it is remarkable that our next 100 million came from the last three years alone," Bharti Airtel CEO for India and South Asia Sanjay Kapoor said in a statement.

The 200 million customer mark in India includes Bharti Airtel customers across categories of 2G, 3G and 4G mobile; fixed line and DSL broadband, IPTV and DTH services, the statement added.

It further claimed that with this milestone Bharti Airtel has now become the fourth largest integrated telecommunications service provider in the world in terms of customer base.

Bharti Airtel has operations in over 20 countries across Asia and Africa.

Globally, the company had an aggregate of 260.7 million customers consisting of 250 million mobile, 3.3 million Telemedia and 7.4 million Digital TV customers as on June 30, 2012.

Its total customer base as on June 30, 2012 increased by 13% compared to its customer base as on June 30, 2011.
