BHEL net profit up 78%

Bharat Heavy Electricals reported 78 per cent jump in net profit at Rs 423.2 crore in the quarter ended December 2005 compared to Rs 237.4 crore in the same quarter of the previous financial year.

The company has an outstanding order book of over Rs 33,800 crore as on December 2005, the said in a statement. BHEL's total sales rose 43 per cent at Rs 3,614.6 crore against Rs 2,529 crore.

The consolidated net profit during the nine months to December 2005 stood at Rs 811.2 crore compared with Rs 419.1 crore in the previous fiscal, translating into a growth of over 93 per cent. Total income rose 49 per cent to Rs 8,516.7 crore from Rs 5,719 crore in the corresponding period of 2004.
