Sarvjit Singh Dhillon has been appointed the new chief financial officer of Bharti Enterprises with effect from January 1 next year. Having worked in Bharti for about 14 years at various senior level positions, Dhillon will work in close coordination with the business CEOs, CFOs as well as corporate functional heads across the group in his new role.
As a group director in the Chairman’s office, he will also be responsible for various emerging businesses. Earlier, he held the position of CFO in group’s telecom firm Bharti Airtel and will now report to Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman & Group CEO, Bharti.
He will take over from Manik Jhangiani, who will be completing his contractual term in January 2012 and has decided to pursue opportunities outside of Bharti.
With a MBA degree from University of Birmingham, UK, specialising in human resource management and advanced marketing, Dhillon has over 24 years of general and financial management experience, fourteen of which he has worked at Bharti. In his free time, he likes to play football, squash and golf.
Prior to joining Bharti, he had worked with Pitney Bowes Corp (USA) and British Telecom Plc (UK) prior. He holds a BA honours graduate in accounting and finance (Middlesex University, UK, 1998) and a qualified chartered management accountant (Chartered Institute of Management Accounts, UK, 1991). He is also a lifetime member of the Stanford University alumni.
Commenting on his appointment, Sunil Bharti Mittal said, “Over the years, he (Dhillon) has contributed immensely to the growth of the Group and I am confident that his holistic business acumen and strategic thinking will continue to be of immense value.”
