BSNL to enhance cell coverage in Jamnagar

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has decided to strengthen its mobile coverage network in the coastal district of Jamnagar, general manager B N Litoria said.
 
Talking to media persons, he said to strengthen its position in the mobile telephony market, BSNL will focus on strengthening coverage in the district and some of the rural pockets like Kalawad, Jamjodhpur and Bhanwad will be brought under the coverage area soon.
 
Litoria said, "We have also decided to bring about technological changes to assure the best service quality. In Jamnagar city, 12 new relay towers will be installed for strengthening coverage. Technology used in the towers will also be changed," he said.
 
He said at present in Jamnagar city area five towers are providing mobile coverage.
 
Litoria said 12 strategic locations have been identified in Jamnagar city for new towers. The locations include Hapa market yard, M P Shah Udyog Nagar, GIDC, Ranjit Nagar, Chandi bazar, vegetable market, Indira Marg, Digvijay Woolen Mills and the Valsura area, he said.
 
He said, Bharat Sanchar Nigam has decided to extend its network to 118 towns and villages by adding 3.5 lakh more mobile connections in the Gujarat circle at a cost of Rs 180 crore during the fiscal 2004-05.
 
At present, BSNL mobile serviced are available in 144 cities, towns and villages and there are 5.5 lakh subscribers.
