When Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a prolific user of Twitter, said that the 140-character micro-blogging website had turned everyone into a reporter during his recent interaction with the high profile Silicon Valley luminaries, it spoke volumes about the company.

Now, there might be more good news in store for Twitter users. The company is building a new product to allow users to share tweets that are longer than the firm’s 140-character limit, according to technology website Re/code.

Since its inception the 140-character limit has been a trademark feature of the company.

Although the report was not sure about how Twitter's new product will look like, citing sources it said that the new product would enable Twitter users to publish long-form content to the service although users tweet out blocks of text with products like OneShot, but those are simply images, not actual text.

A Twitter spokeswoman declined to comment, the report added.
Increasing the character limit has been discussed at Twitter for years, more so in recent months under Dorsey, sources told Re/code.
