Australian speciality catridge retailing chain Catridge World has opened 2 franchisee outlets in Chennai. The company is looking at opening 100 such chains by the year-end and capture 10 per cent of the market by 2010. The company is into refilling printer cartridges.

Presently, Catridge World has 22 stores across India and will open 20 more across 15 cities. "We will look at about 100 stores by the end of the year," Naveen Rakhecha, South Asia CEO, Cartridge World, said.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, he said the Indian printer cartridge market is largely unorganised.

The organised market is growing around 30 per cent annually, and the market is expected to touch Rs 3,000 crore during fiscal 2009 from Rs 1,600 crore earlier. In the organised segment, the company aims to capture 10 per cent of the market by 2010, Rakhecha said.

The number of cartridges is likely to grow to 30 million by FY 2009 from 12.25 million. The demand is lead by IT companies, with multi-functional and entry-level printers being the key product segments, he added.

The company has operations in over 1,600 stores across the globe and R&D centres in the USA, Australia, Germany and in UK. Last year, Catridge World posted revenues of over $450 million.
