Kejian, a Chinese mobile handset manufacturer, plans to tap the SAARC market through its Indian distributor "" Trust Telecom Technologies.

Kejian has entered into a strategic alliance with Trust Telecom to market its products in India.

The two companies have also planned to form a joint venture. "Depending on the market, we may also look at setting up a manufacturing base in India. This will be through a joint venture with Trust Telecom that we are looking at in the near future," said Kok Kin Hok, president, Chian Kejian Corporation.

Kejian's strategic alliance with Trust Telecom "" a Rajgarhia group company "" will mark the Chinese handset maker's foray into the international market.

The Kejian - Trust Telecom alliance is looking at selling 2.5 lakh units in India in the current year and is expecting to sell around 25 lakh handsets in the next three years.

Although it has introduced only four GSM-based models for the Indian market, the company intends to ship further models depending on the demand in the country, Hok, said. The Kejian handsets introduced in the country are priced in the range of Rs 4,905 and Rs 16,650.

Trust Telecom has a 1,600 dealer network across the country through which the handsets will be sold.
