CMC posts 17% jump in consolidated net

CMC, a subsidiary of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), reported an increase of 17.7 per cent in its consolidated net profit to Rs 27.09 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2008, from Rs 23 crore registered in the corresponding period the previous year. Revenues were down by 22.6 per cent to Rs 212.3 crore from Rs 274.6 crore in the year ago period.
On a sequential basis, the company’s net profit was up by 14.7 per cent from Rs 23.6 crore — but revenues dipped by 25 per cent. Revenues from customer services segment was down by 55 per cent to Rs 66.65 core on an year-on-year basis from Rs 148.3 crore. Similarly, education and training segment revenues were also impacted and dipped by 16 per cent.
ICSA India bottom line up 66% year-on-year
ICSA India, a Hyderabad-based provider of embedded technology solutions for the power sector, reported a 66.3 per cent growth in its net profit to Rs 48.03 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2008, compared with Rs 28.88 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Total income increased 86.61 per cent to Rs 279.61 crore as against Rs 149.83 crore during the same period last year.
Nakoda Textiles profit increases 21%
Nakoda Textiles has posted a rise of 20.78 per cent in its net profit to Rs 3.08 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2008, against Rs 2.55 crore in the previous corresponding quarter. The company's net sales during the period grew to Rs 199.61 crore from Rs 156.44 crore, up 27.6 per cent.
Sanwaria Agro Oils net up 59% to Rs 23 cr
Soyabean processor Sanwaria Agro Oils today announced that its net profit registered a growth of 58.92 per cent to Rs 23.06 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2008, compared with Rs 14.51 crore. The company's net sales rose to Rs 312.21 crore from Rs 201.51 crore in the year-ago period. For the six months ended September 30, the company has posted a net profit of Rs 44.93 crore, from Rs 50.91 crore in the same quarter the previous financial year.
Electrosteel Castings net zooms 46% to Rs 42 cr
Electrosteel Castings has posted a net profit of Rs 42.12 crore in the quarter ended September 30, 2008, an increase of 45.79 per cent over the same period last year on the back of higher net sales. Net sales for the quarter zoomed 78.20 per cent to Rs 527.66 crore. Total income was also higher by 71.93 per cent to Rs 545.86 crore. The company has just concluded an external commercial borrowing (ECB) of $77.5 million to partly fund its various modernisation and backward integrated projects.
