As part of the NDLM, 2000 community members, one from each family, would be trained to operate a computer or a digital access device (such as a tablet), and use the Internet to search for information, send/receive emails and access various e-governance services.
Training modules have been developed by Nasscom Foundation, covering content on health, education, literacy and livelihood. The Cyient Foundation will also partner with a non-government organisation specialized in executing community development programs.
"Engaging primarily with youth and women, the programme will generate social, cultural and economic advantages for under-served communities. The initial phase of the programme will use the Cyient Foundation adopted schools infrastructure in suburban Hyderabad. We feel very delighted to participate in the government's new Digital India initiative", Reddy said.
Since its inception 14 years ago, the Cyient Foundation (formerly Infotech Enterprises Charitable Trust) is stated to have conceptualized and enabled various social initiatives, including the adoption of 13 government schools across Hyderabad, Kakinada and Noida, supporting more than 10,000 underprivileged children.
The Cyient Foundation also adopted Andhra Polytechnic College in Kakinada, supporting 2,000 students pursuing their diploma as well as providing employment opportunities to meritorious students every year.
The foundation aims to facilitate access to quality education, participate in projects with business-aligned social innovation, and invest in environmental development projects.
