Nasdaq-listed Discovery Communications, which owns Discovery Channel and Animal Planet, may soon increase its India bouquet by launching a new channel.
“Trends are fast changing and so are the tastes of the TV audience. People are on the lookout for more curiousity driven stuff, which explains the success of reality shows on the small screen today,” Rajiv Bakshi, director – Marketing & Communications said.
Without divulging much on the time of launch and genre, he said that the new channel was still in the conceptual state.
Bakshi added that Discovery had also transformed over the years starting from wildlife to more adventure stuff now. “Initially, Discovery was more focused on wildlife and history. Gradually, science and technology related programmes took the centrestage. Now, survival and adventure genre has taken the lead in our programming,” he added.
