ESC may set up Odisha chapter

To brand Odisha as a favourable IT (information technology) destination, the state IT department has approached Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC), India's largest electronics and IT trade facilitation organisation, to set up a chapter in the state.

ESC, sponsored by Government of India, facilitates global interests of foreign companies, which want to establish business linkages in India. Sources said, D K Sareen, Executive Director of ESC, is likely to meet the top officials of the IT department soon. ESC has a membership base of over 2300 manufacturers and exporters across the country covering the entire gamut of Electronics and Software Industry in the areas like, consumer electronics, electronic components, instrumentation, computer hardware and peripherals, computer Software and IT enabled services etc.

"The opening of chapter will help in branding Odisha as an investment destination in the IT sector as it facilitates business interface between the companies in India and abroad," said an official.
