Having set up its first skill upgradation centre (SUC) through its partnership with the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) and Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) in Gujarat, Chennai-based education and training company Everonn Systems India Limited is now planning to implement a similar project for the ITIs and polytechnics in the state.

Buoyed by the public private partnership (PPP) projects promoted by the Gujarat government, Everonn is keen to replicate the SUCs, which have been set up in industrial areas, at the ITIs and polytechnics, said TV Jayaraman, chief executive of Everonn Skill Development, a division of Everonn Systems.

Under the agreement between Everonn Systems and the Gujarat government, infrastructure requirements for all the SUCs will be undertaken by the government, while the content as well as the faculty for the courses will be provided by Everonn. In all, 50 such SUCs will be set up in Gujarat, Everonn has won tenders for nine of them.

“We plan to set up all the nine centres by September this year. Each class will have 25 students, and hence we plan to run three batches. With five such batches in a year, a single centre will see around 375 students passing out from there,” Jayaraman said.

Everonn Systems will also establish network with industries around the centres and facilitate students in getting employment. The skill upgradation centres will offer 3-month short duration certificate courses in AC & refrigeration, welding technology, milling & turning, and electrical & electronics, to start with.

Candidates can register for the course of their choice for a fee of Rs 5, 500, which can be paid in three installments. The course, which will conduct five classes per week, will enroll 25 candidates for the first batch.

Apart from Gandhinagar, Everonn will be setting up SUCs in Vatva, Lodhika in Rajkot, Surendranagar, Bhavnagar, Sachin in Surat, Talod in Gandhinagar, Modasa, and Dhrangadhara.
