These 48,000 vehicles are diesel variants manufactured between April 2013 and June 2014, the company said in a statement. The seventh-largest car maker in the Indian market is also writing to owners of 700 EcoSport vehicles, made between January 2016 and February 2016, and fitted with a 60/40 rear folding seat.
“On certain vehicles, the 40 per cent rear seat backrest might have been assembled with bolts that do not meet Ford’s material specification, potentially causing the bolts to break,” the company said.

The company had sold more than 40,000 units of EcoSport in the financial year ended March. The firm said there have been no customer complaints, accidents, or injuries, as a result of these concerns. Owners of the affected EcoSport vehicles have been asked to contact their local Ford dealers and get the rework done free of charge.
In November, the carmaker had recalled 16,444 units of EcoSport to fix faulty rear twist beam bolt, a part in the vehicle’s suspension. Ford India had recalled 166,021 units of Figo and Fiesta Classic models in September 2013, to rectify faulty rear twist beam and power steering hose.
Automobile manufacturers have been recalling vehicles over safety problems since Siam (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers) initiated a voluntary recall policy in July 2012.
