Fortis Healthcare today said it has received approval from the concerned authorities to change its name to Fortis Healthcare (India).
"Subsequent to the application filed by the company with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, the Registrar of Companies, NCT of Delhi & Haryana, has conferred its approval to the change of name of the Company from March 7, 2011," Fortis Healthcare said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
Fortis Healthcare in a earlier filing had said it was seeking shareholders' approval to change its name to Fortis Healthcare (India) to align with its strategy to focus on the domestic market.
Fortis has a network of 53 hospitals with over 8,000 beds spread across 13 states in the country.
Shares of Fortis Healthcare today closed at Rs 151.45 on the BSE, up 0.87% from its previous close.
