Yoga guru Ramdev on Saturday said his company Patanjali Ayurved was ready to foray into the textiles sector.

Addressing the Global Investors Summit in Indore, he said,  “Some say I will make jeans, but jeans is just one product. I will make saris, kurtas, shirts and coats. Patanjali will have 200 per cent growth next year.”

Ramdev did not divulge the quantum of his company’s investment in Madhya Pradesh but said he wanted to create an ecosystem to generate Rs 10,000 crore income for farmers. The state government has allotted 45 acres of land in Pithampur near Indore to Patanjali Ayurved.

“Within two years I will use homegrown wheat, tomatoes, oil, pulses and milk to create an ecosystem for farmers so that they can have an income of Rs 10,000 crore,” the yoga guru said.

Ramdev urged investors to make in India. “India imports goods worth Rs 25 lakh crore from various countries and Rs 4 lakh crore of goods from China. India can become the world’s largest manufacturing hub,” he said.

Madhya Pradesh could become one of the preferred destinations for manufacturing because of its industry-friendly government, he added.

Patanjali Ayurved would invest Rs 500 crore in food processing in Pithampur and Ramdev had also been invited to invest in Rewa district, a state government official said.

Earlier, Madhya Pradesh’s Industry Minister Rajendra Shukla had said Ramdev would invest Rs 1,000 crore in the food processing and herbal sectors in the state.
