When set up in 2011, the Chennai-based company intended to focus on the brandy market in south India. Poised to break even this year, Geoscope has decided to expand.
Geoscope was launched by R L Rajah, former chief operating officer of Diageo India; Sudeep Kumar, former commercial director; and Krithivasan Ramaswamy, former director at Diageo's duty-free operations. The company has a partnership with French conglomerate Bardinet for bottling Hobsons XR and two of its own brandies, Clovis XO and Le Roi.
Rajah, managing director at Geoscope, said, "We are launching Le Roi Black, a blended whisky brand, abroad in a couple of months. We want to establish our brands abroad and later launch them here. We plan a Wassup vodka brand by October."
