Cigarette maker Godfrey Phillips India (GPI) today posted a nearly three-fold increase in its net profit at Rs 62.44 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2011.
The company's net profit for the corresponding quarter of last fiscal stood at Rs 22.73 crore, it said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
Its net sales for the three months ended June 30, 2011, grew 18.76% to Rs 425.22 crore, compared to Rs 358.02 crore in the corresponding period of the last fiscal.
GPI's cigarette brands include Four Square, Jaisalmer and Red & White Flake.
The company also sells pan masala under Pan Vilas brand and tea under Symphony brand.
