GSPC to pay compensation to fishermen

Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) has agreed to pay a compensation of over Rs 11 crore per month to the fishermen here who were affected due to the ongoing dredging work being undertaken by the company.

The Andhra Pradesh State Minister for Animal Husbandry P Viswaroop said 16,431 fishermen from 63 villages of eight mandals in the East Godavari district were hit after the company started its operations and would be paid compensation till the work is complete.
