Mortgage lender HDFC and engineering major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) today fell as much as three per cent at the Bombay Stock Exchange, ahead of their second quarter results, amid a weak broader market.
Both the companies will announce their September quarter results later in the day.
Housing Development Finance Corp (HDFC) plunged 2.93 per cent to touch an early low of Rs 705.55 on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Similarly, L&T too suffered losses and hit its early low of Rs 1,941.25, down 2.42 per cent on the bourse.
The blue-chip companies started the day on a positive note, but could not carry forward the momentum and succumbed to weakness in the overall market.
Larsen and HDFC were among the major drivers in the fall of the bellwether Sensex, which was quoting down by 204.45 at 19920.60 in pre-noon trade.
