Piyush Mehta, director-sales (India), customer premise equipment, Asia business unit of the company told Business Standard that the company was exploring the possibility of setting up a manufacturing unit in the country to meet the growing demand of hands-free communication solutions in the call centres.
"The company is considering setting up a manufacturing unit only if we reach a critical market share of at least 55 per cent. Its our market strategy to grow organically," he said.
Meanwhile, GN Netcom has decided to set up a sales and support office in the country to provide services to its clients here.
"This will help ease product availability as well as operational issues," Mehta added.
The company already enjoys a 30 per cent market share in the handsets market through its Indian distributor Innova Telecom.
Recently, GN Netcom has also entered into a strategic marketing tie-up with Tata Telecom to market its headsets in India.
The Danish company develops, manufactures and markets a broad portfolio of corded as well as wireless headsets and related products through its two market focused divisions - contact center market, office and mobile division.
"We have decided to sell our products only through channel partners considering the cost, economics and expertise in marketing in local markets. Its our global strategy, we do not want to be vendors, rather support them and concentrate on offering best solutions," Mehta added.
In addition to GN Netcom's line of corded headsets, the company is also offering headset solutions for voice over Internet protocol (VoIP)-enabled enterprises.
