HP in pact with IIIT-B for IT skill development

Programme to help students explore job opportunities in growing infrastructure management industry

HP Education Services and the International Institute of Information Technology-Bangalore (IIIT-B) on Friday announced the launch of a new IT infrastructure certificate programme for undergraduate students in the country. The new programme will help students to explore job opportunities in the growing infrastructure management industry, the company said.

According to the company, remote infrastructure management technology includes management of workstations, communications and networking hardware and software, as well as applications. A recent study by the IT industry body Nasscom said, India’s share of the global remote infrastructure management industry would be 45 percent by the year 2020.

“The Indian remote infrastructure management industry currently employs more than 100,000 people and Nasscom expects demand for resources to more than triple by 2015,” said Prof S Sadagopan, Director, IIIT -Bangalore.

HP, through its education services arm is working to bridge the skill gap in the IT industry. The programme will cover modules like integrated networks, network security, networking for cloud.

Upon completion of the course, students would be awarded a joint IIIT-B and HP certificate that will help them to pursue career opportunity as IT managers in the Indian remote infrastructure management industry, the company said.
