Jindal Power to raise Tamnar plant capacity

Jindal Power plans to increase the electricity generation capacity of its Tamnar power plant in the district by 2,400 MW to 3,400 MW over the next four years. The company has placed orders worth Rs 5,040 crore with Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) for suppling equipment to raise the plant’s capacity by 2,400 MW, JPL Chairman and Managing Director Naveen Jindal said. BHEL, under the agreement, would supply and service boilers and auxiliaries, including electrostatic precipitators, steam turbines, generators and generator controls, station control and instrumentation and transformers among other things, Jindal said.

Jindal Steel and Power (JSPL), the parent company of JPL, would invest more than Rs 10,000 crore in the Tamnar block over the next four years, he said.
