Having set itself an ambitious turnover target of Rs 7,000 crore for the year, LGEIL is looking to increase its sales force and channel partners in a big way.
"The training will aim to facilitate performance, improve knowledge, skills and attitude. The employee will be given continuous training both through online and offline methods, which will cover functional, technical and behavioural aspects," said YV Verma, senior vice-president (human resources), LGEIL.
The company has earmarked nearly Rs 10 crore for the programme, up from last year's Rs 3 crore. LG will train nearly 12,000 people, which will include employees, sub-dealers, direct dealers, service franchisees and factory and shop floor workers.
In an effort to increase its brand recall among consumers and technicians in the unorganised sector, LG's airconditioning division will invest in training mechanics all over the country.
"This will give us great word-of-mouth publicity, which is very essential in the consumer durables business," said Salil Kapoor, country head (airconditioning division), LGIEL.
"We are looking at imparting 12,000 man-days of training this year, compared with 4,000 man-days last year," Verma said.
The training methods will include experiential learning, case studies, simulations, product demonstration and on-the-spot trouble shooting.
"In every training, the evaluation of participants' understanding is done, feedback is taken and certifications and awards are given to not only the performers, but also the best trainers," Verma said. All the training initiatives will be monitored by the top management on a weekly basis.
