Consumer durable firm LG Electronics India today announced the appointment of Soon H Kwon as the new Managing Director of the company, replacing Moon B Shin, who is currently holding the position.

"Soon H Kwon will replace Moon B Shin as the new Managing Director of LG Electronics India with effect from January 1, 2011," LG Electronics India said in a statement.

Shin will be elevated to the position of Global Head (Sales and Marketing) Home Appliances at Seoul, South Korea at the LG Electronics headquarters.

Prior to the position, Kwon was the Global Head, LG Electronics Business Solutions. He has been responsible for the company's growing revenue and building LG Business Solutions Company as a leading B2B supplier, it added.

He has also served as the Managing Director at LGE Australia in 2009. His earlier stints within LG Electronics include as the corporate marketing Vice-President in Korea and senior positions in the US and Canada markets.

"I look forward to not only the new challenges but also the opportunity to enhance the position of LG as the premium brand in the market," Kwon said.

The company said the outgoing Managing Director has been significant in not only building brand-consumer relationship but also in sustained leadership across categories.

"In spite of the economic downturn, LG Electronics India has achieved phenomenal success under his (Shin's) leadership and has become a strategic market leader," it said.
