M&M 2-wheeler sales in Gujarat up 88% in May

Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd is on a growth drive in Gujarat. The company, part of the $12.5 billion (Rs 56,000 crore approx.) diversified Mahindra Group, sold 1,110 scooters and motorbikes in May, registering a growth of 88 per cent over last fiscal.

Mahindra Two Wheelers had sold 591 units in May last year. "The growth experienced by Mahindra Two Wheelers in Gujarat is largely because of the fact that there has been a good acceptance for our brands since the launch. The quality, reliability and durability of our products have played a major role in this. We have also done some innovative brand building and brand experiential activities over the last one year that has paid us dividends. Our network has also improved in the last one year. A lot of hard work has been put in by our dealerships," said Devendra Shinde, vice president,marketing, Mahindra Two Wheelers.

Mahindra offers four products across categories to cater to a range of consumer segments. There is the Mahindra Rodeo, a contemporary looking bike for the Indian youth, while the Mahindra Duro is especially positioned as a family scooter. The Mahindra Flyte, on the other hand, is targeted at women. This apart, there is the Stallio, the first motorcycle from the Mahindra stable. On the whole, Mahindra Two Wheelers has sold 10,970 units across the country in May, an increase of 36 per cent over same period last fiscal.

Cumulative sales in the first two months of the current fiscal stood at 20,525 units, a growth of 20 per cent over the same period last year when the sales stood at 17,055 units respectively.

The company has also managed to cross the 250,000 units sales figure across India, while the Rodeo alone has has crossed a figure of 100,000 units.
