Mahindra & Mahindra, India's biggest utility vehicle maker has announced a recall of its most popular sports utility vehicle XUV500 to carry out preventive replacement of certain parts.

A select batch of XUV500s manufactured during 2011 and 2012 will be recalled for replacing fluid hose, front power window units as well as the left wiper blade cover, the Mumbai-based company said today.

"The company announced that it would carry out replacement of certain parts for a select batch of its XUV500 model. This is in keeping with its customer centric approach as well as in compliance with the recently announced voluntary code on vehicle recall", M&M said in a statement.

This is one of the first recalls made by the company in recent times. A group company Mahindra Two Wheelers made a recall of its maiden motorcycle on account of a faulty gearbox a few years earlier.

"This replacement would be free of cost for XUV500 customers who would be individually contacted by the Company", added the company. The units which are recalled are the first batch of models made by the company.

M&M launched the XUV500 in the later half of 2011 in India. It is the most expensive passenger vehicle sold under the M&M brand.
